Waiting can feel like a waste of time, but Joseph’s story in Genesis 40 reminds us that waiting is an opportunity. Even in prison, unsure of his future, Joseph didn’t wallow in self-pity—he served. Instead of obsessing over his own injustice, he noticed the pain of others. When Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker were troubled by their dreams, Joseph cared enough to ask,
“Why do you look so sad today?” (Genesis 40:7).
Like Joseph, we often don’t know what God is doing in our waiting seasons. But we do know this: focusing on people rather than problems keeps our hearts soft and our faith strong. Instead of getting stuck in frustration, look for ways to encourage someone, pray for a friend, or serve where you are. You may not see the full picture yet, but God is working. Don’t waste your wait—use it to bless others.
